Is there an age limit?
  • We hope that you are older than 18 and younger than 40.   If you are under 18 or over 40, just don't tell us.  Nobody will ask you.   Nobody cares.  But most of our members are around 20 to 30.  Honestly speaking, there is no age limit.  But if we go clubbing, you better be 21 or else the door guard will kick you out!

If we are to meet in a crowded night club, how do we recognize each other?

  • If we meet in a restaurant, we always try to find a big, empty restaurant that has OK food.  That way, there is more room for our members, and it is a lot easier for new members to recognize us.   Just call my cell phone at (415) 377 8049 to locate me.  Or wear our name tag.  Cut this out and pin it on your shirt.

Which night clubs do you guys usually go?

  • We usually go to Club Cocomo or Jillian to dance.

  • Club Cocomo has a front counter where our new members can ask the receptionist where we are.  We usually sit in the back of the room.  See figure:

See map and learn how to drive to Club Cocomo!

  • Jullian has a big empty room in the back of the club where we wait for our members.  If you are still scared, just print out the name tag and pin it on your shirt or call my cell phone.  You can't miss it!  See Figure:

Do I have to pay a club fee to join?

  • No.  You don't have to pay a fee to join.  All you have to pay is your own expenses.  For example, if we meet at a restaurant, you have to pay for your own dinner.  If we decide to go to a night club, you have to pay for your own ticket.  If we have a BBQ, everyone chips in to buy the meat that we grill.   If we have a pot luck, it's free but you have to bring some food.  And everybody will pay for the paper plates, sodas, and the plastic forks we use.

Where else do you guys go?

  • We usually meet at a cheap restaurant in San Francisco.   After that, we go to a night club.  We don't want anyone to get lost, so we mostly go to places in San Francisco.  Once awhile, we will go roller-blading in Golden Gate Park.  2 months ago, we had a BBQ in a park at Burlingame.  Last year, about 15 of us went to Great America.  We ask for members' suggestions before we decide where to go.

What is the SIZE of this club?   How many people would come in each meeting?

  • For your information, I post advertisements on the bulletin board of Japan Town's Maruwa super market.  I advertise on about 30 bay area singles' mailing lists.  I tell people about our club on more than 20 different Yahoo San Francisco clubs.  I swap members with two other major asian groups.  Each time, about 40 or 50 people would show up.  AND the size of this club is GROWING!

How much does a person spend at each meeting?

  • We try to save everyone money.  That's why we always pick cheaper places to go.  Well, a dinner at a restaurant would cost you about $8.   We try to find the cheapest restaurant possible because most of us are not millionaires.  Night clubs usually cost $12 to $15.  In the night club, you have to buy your own beer, which costs $2.50 a cup.  If we have a BBQ, each person spends $7 or $8 for the food that we cook.  If we do pot luck, it's free but you have to cook your own dish.

What kind of people would come?

  • We have been running this club for nearly 2 years and a half.   Most of the people are friendly.  We never had any trouble with anyone.   They are all quite polite.  Nobody's stuck up or has an attitude problem.   I would say more than 85% of the people are asians.  Most of the asians are Chinese.   Since I am now advertising in Japan Town, more Japanese are expected to show up.  We got some Koreans, Vietnamese and Philippinos too.  Some of them are students, and some of them are working.

If I am a party organizer, can I suggest an event to SFAsian.com?

  • Certainly!  We barely have time to organize our own events.  We gladly accept your event submissions!  Click here for more info.

Do your club welcome blacks, whites, hispanics, gays, etc.?

  • Of course we do.  But maybe because people know that this is an asian club, that's why the people who come are mostly asians.  But we do welcome anyone who is willing to meet asians.  We have only 1 or 2 gay members.   But everyone is welcome.
